Pikey Peak Trek is a newly opened trekking destination in Nepal with a stunning panoramic views of the Himalayas in lower Everest region. Located in the Solu Khumbu region (lower Everest region), Pikey Peak offers rich cultural heritage of Sherpa community along with a stunning panoramic views of the mountains including Everest, Makalu and many other prominent peaks like Gaurishankar and Shishapangma.
This trek is a moderate trek and can be done within 5-7 days and is less crowded compared to other trekking routes with off-beaten trails, providing more tranquil and peaceful experience.
Departure from Kathmandu to Dhap via Okhaldhunga by shared or private Jeep.

Pikey Peak trek is a moderate level trek and it is best to travel during spring (March and April) and autumn (September to November). During spring, the trails is going to be blooming with rhododendron forest with lush green vegetation everywhere. Likewise, the weather is perfect during autumn season with clear skies and fall colours of flora.
Pikey Peak region is also a habitat for many fauna such as red panda, deer, black beer, and many varieties of birds like snow-cock, pheasant etc. This trek is also less crowded compared to other trekking routes and pleasant for travellers who love serenity.
Welcome to Nepal.
On your arrival in Kathmandu, our staff will greet you at the Kathmandu International airport and takes you to the hotel. You can have a rest and do a little exploration around Thamel area. Thamel is a tourist hub in Kathmandu with plenty of restaurants, bars and pubs, hotels, shops etc. We will also prepare for the trek with shopping and permits arrangements.
Our second day starts with an early morning drive towards Dhap village from Kathmandu. We will take 7 to 8 hours of Jeep ride to Dhap village via Okhaldhunga with several stops in between. Dhap is a small village which is a starting point of Pikey Peak trek. You can see the mountain range including Everest even from this point. Overnight stay at a cozy teahouse in Dhap.
We will start trekking from Dhap village after having a breakfast in a teahouse we stayed overnight. The journey towards Jhapre village is roughly about 5-6 hours depending on our walking pace or stops in between. During the journey, we will be seeing the Himalayan range passing the beautiful forests full of alder, pine, bamboo, cedar, oak and rhododendrons trees to name few. We also pass few small villages and witness terraced farming growing potatoes, corn and green vegetables.
Today we will be reaching to an elevation above 3,000m. The journey from Jhapre to Pikey base camp is roughly around 5 hours as we start going at an elevation of 3,750m above sea level. The vegetation starts to change as we go towards Pikey base camp. We will see more of a dwarf shrubs and bushes of rhododendron and juniper trees. We might even encounter yaks and snow-cock along the way. Overnight stay at the teahouse at the base of Pikey Peak. We prepare for an early hike towards Pikey Peak from the base camp.
We wake up very early this morning to reach to the Pikey Peak before sunrise. It takes around 1 hour of walk from base camp to the summit of Pikey Peak (4,065m). This will be one of the main highlights of this trek as we will see the panoramic views of the Himalayas including Everest and Makalu region. We will even see other prominent mountains such as Shishapangma, Gaurishankar, Numbur and many other peaks.
This will be our last day of Pikey Peak trek. We will either trek to Phaplu village from Junbesi (4 hours trek) to catch a domestic flight back to Kathmandu or catch a private Jeep straight from Junbesi to Kathmandu via Phaplu and Okhaldhunga.
